May Newsletter

If any of you are not receiving your newsletter please get in touch with me (Kandy McGraw, johnmcgraw@tughillwheelers.com ). Some get their email servers changed and we don’t know it. It also helps to have your email addresses if a change comes up about an upcoming ride, trail maintenance or a Bill comes up in Albany that needs your attention.

Don’t forget our campout and Moonlight Ride is coming up on the weekend of August 15-16. We used to have our Moonlight Ride on Friday nights but due to the distance of most of our members by the time they got our of work and drove up here they were tired. So we changed it to Saturday night with a cookout before we leave on our ride. This year according to the calendar there should be a full moon. So don’t forget if you are camping at Tuggers please get your reservations in to Tuggers (315-688-2627 or 315-688-2045) or myself, Kandy McGraw (315-688-4201). So get your reservations in. If you just want to ride and join us for the cookout, that’s great then just get in touch with me if you are coming.

In spite of the price of gas we had a fairly good turnout with 251 riders. There were 95 riders who made it to Buffalo Inn for the Wild Card. First Place went to Gordon Peebles of Glenfield with Kings over Queens, Second Place went to Scot Christman of Germansville, PA with Kings over 2’s and Third Place went to Jamie Backer who is from between Boonville and Constablevilee with 8’s over 10’s. The winner of the 50/50 was Bonnie Hamilton from Carthage, NY Congratulations to all of you and hope you had fun. With five clubs helping out each club will receive roughly $258 for trail maintenance which isn’t too bad.

One note there was one person who was supposedly given a ticket for being in the mud hole at Tabolt’s Corner. For those of you who want to play in the mud, please stay out of that area unless you want to get a ticket by the DEC. The Tug Hill Wheelers are urging you “mud magnets” to go to Timberview and to follow the signs across the road from there and they will lead you to the mud. So pass the word if it is mud you crave go to Timberview and be sure to thank John for your mud bath because by the time you are thru you and your machine will really need a bath.

A lot of you might have heard about the truck trails closed on the hill, well you can thank the Region 6 Director Judy Drabicki for that in fact you can email her and let her know you feel. Her email address is jxdrabis@gw.dec.state.ny.us . In fact for those of you who live downstate get a hold of your Assembly person because they are just as much to blame for a lot of ATVs not getting passed, for example the Side by Sides and the closing of trails in this area and in the Adirondacks. So go get ‘em.
